Birthday fun.....
Birthday fun at Loch Lubnauig...... |
The two weeks of the Easter holidays literally flew by. All four of us celebrated our birthdays during the two weeks. For mine we headed up to Loch Lubnaig, despite the cold, with a barbeque and blankets. Toasted marshmallows, bananas, sausages, a little walk, swinging on the tree rope and playing cards made for a perfect birthday.....

Top Two......Sorbetto versus Vintage
Two of my most recent additions to my non colourful wardrobe (tends to consist of black, grey, cream, denim) - a total colour fobe when it comes to clothes.
Here the Sorbetto top by Colette Patterns makes an appearance in slate grey poly cotton. Again for this version, I inverted the pleat and finished with matching hand made bias binding on the armholes, neckline and hemline to create a lovely finished edge. At £3.99 a metre this versatile little number cost me aprox £7.00 to make and a couple of hours from start to finish.
And I couldn't resist this sparkly number (admittedly I have removed the shoulder pads!) that I picked up at Judys Vintage Fair last week for a mere £18. I adore the detail on the sleeve and hemline - I think it will lend itself to be worn with skinnies and heels or would look elegant teamed with a pencil skirt and nipped in at the waist with a skinny belt.

The Affordable Vintage Fair.....
After a hard week at work, Saturday saw me kicking back and taking a trip with my lovely friend Janet to Edinburgh to Judys Affordable Vintage Fair. After attending one of Judys fairs in Newcastle a few years ago, I knew what to expect and made sure I had my camera at the ready as well as some cash in my pocket.
Packed with some super stalls, we browsed through sequins, leather shorts (I kid not!), pretty jewels and vintage homewares - pausing for lunch on the way.
I was so wanting to get my hair done by Miss Dixiebelle who was creating some seriously stunning styles! Maybe a treat for another day.......*sighs*

Reading Material......
Heading out the door before work this morning, I took these snapshots in my living room of books as part of the 30 day photo challenge set by Elle Moss Photography ........
I can't decide which of the above books in this last picture is my favourite.....certainly My Heart Wanders by Pia Jane Bijerk is one of my favourites and a huge inspiration but the Hummingbird Bakery book is getting a fair amount of use at the moment!
What are your favourite books?

Vintage Butterflies......
I adore this vintage muslin cover.....a friend was having a clear out at her Mum's house and found this that her Granny had hand crocheted with the prettiest of butterflies and thought that I might love it. An understatement to say the least. J'adore!!!!
She thinks it was orginally made for covering food as it is both decorative and made from the finest muslin.
For now I have hung it at my window whilst the sun is not strong to create a pretty and whimsical look.
